Well there have been some ups and downs but Dixie is slowly progressing. She can handle a little longer walks now and seems overall a very happy dog. Unfortunately we have to leave her behind on those longer walks, but she doesn’t seem to mind. We have been giving her anti-inflammatory and joint supplements daily and that has helped her quite a bit. She is full of life and very vocal, I think she has come to expect the extra treatment and uses it to her advantage as much as she can. We tried to take her for a longer walk using the wagon when she got tired, but she wouldn’t stay in the wagon. She wanted to sniff every spot along the walk and being pulled in the wagon didn’t allow her to do that. She was tired by the time we got home but she seemed to enjoy the new sniffs that day.
Glad to hear Dixie is doing well! Yeah, its a sad fact that most of our tripawds just are not up for those extra long walks and we have to make adjustments. Our Travis can do 2 miles but Codie at almost 10 can’t do more than a mile and Austin, who also has bad arthritis in his elbows can only do about .5 mile. And unlike Dixie they are all rear-leg amps, which I think makes a difference.
Too bad she won’t stay in the wagon but yeah, what dog doesn’t want to sniff along the way 🙂 Have you tried walking her and just using the wagon once she gets tired, say on the way back? Maybe then she would be happier to stay in it? Just a thought….

Everytime I see Dixie’s picture, she just takes my breath away because she is so pretty!! And this picture did the same!
Yeah, I think tripawds learn very quickly that they can now get anything anytime they want from us!! And we do love spoiling them!
My Happy Hannah loved leisurely short walks where she could just sit and rest sometimes and catch the breezes in the air. I think tripawds really teach us to slow down and smell the roses! For them itsq not about how far they walk, it’s about enjoying the journey!
HAPPY FIFTEEN WEEK AMPUVERSARY beautiful girl! I keep scrolling back up and look at your picture…and my smile gets bigger everytime!
Keep these great updates coming!
Love to all!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
She`s beautiful!
Hey Dixie it’s good to hear from you. How come you don’t like the chariot? I know some dogs don’t but maybe in time, hopefully, you will. It’s so helpful. But yeah I know that sniffing is just too irresistible!
Lookin good gorgeous!
