Vet says by removing all of my leg, the soft cell sarcoma tumor cancer should be gone with plenty of margin and another mass that was found during the operation was found to be benign and not a Mast Tumor. So he thinks I am Cancer free at this point. Yea 🙂 At 8 days out I am feeling and eating much better, still a little slow at getting around and I have another week before the stitches come out. So Daddy says now our goal is more walks once the stitches come out.
I enjoyed getting out today and getting some sunshine at the park with dad and Raj. Daddy tried to take me in the wagon, but I wouldn’t have it and hopped all the way up there. Daddy played fetch with Raj, I never understood the fun in that. I just rolled in the grass and soaked up some sunshine. When we got home daddy worked in the yard while I watched him from the porch. Daddy tried to let me in the house holding the front door open and Raj decided to take off and romp the neighborhood. Luckily Raj has a tracker and Daddy was able to find him down the street using his phone and the GPS tracker. I think if Raj keeps doing this he may wake up without a leg too 🙂
Raja has been very understanding during my tripawd transition, so dad spent some time with him last night. He was grateful to lay with dad while watching TV 🙂 Daddy took my ruffwear paw booties off last night and noticed how sweaty my 3 paws were, so he is now looking for a more breathable sock for our wood floors. He also took my harness off for the night. He makes sure that my tee-shirt is still covering my incision so I can’t lick or chew on it. Today is another rainy day but daddy may take a walk with Raj since he has been such a trooper while I am going through this.
It is a dreary rainy day here in the NW so daddy decided a trip to petco was in order. Wanted to see if they had any Pawsfordogs that I could try, unfortunately they didn’t, only small sizes. But enjoyed seeing the birdies in their cages and managed to poop and pee in the store. Clean up on isle 3 and 7! It was very busy so we only were there a few minutes. I think they should have handicap parking for dogs too, it was very wet and my booties slip a little when they are wet. We are back home now so I can rest some more. Raj wasn’t ready to come home yet but he understands, I think 🙂
Dixie seems to be getting her paws figured out after finally getting the ruffwear booties on. Most of our house is wood floors so she was really having difficulty getting from one area rug to the next without slipping. The booties really helped. I am reluctant to take them off since she really doesn’t like me putting them on and she is slipping and could fall on her stitches. I have started to reduce her codeine and now she is being stubborn about eating and it has been a challenge to get her to eat her pills. I have tried wrapping them in meat, bread, cake but she takes little bites and spits out the pill. Last night she slept alone until early this morning when she wanted to come up and be with me in the bedroom. So mom brought her up and she laid on the floor next to the bed. Perfect Xmas gift. My wife and the girls were off to California today, so Dixie, Raj and me tried to go out for very short walk. I put Dixie in the wagon and hooked Raj up to pull it, boy that didn’t work. So I pulled Dixie up to the park with Raj just tied to the wagon. Once at the park I let Dixie out and she was able to sniff around and poop. So far two poops and lots of pees so that is good. Unfortunately I let go of Raj’s leash and off he went. So I packed up Dixie and brought her back home and got her back on her bed. I have a tracker on Raj so I was able to see where he was, but he moves so fast he is gone from the last tracked spot by the time I get there. Luckily a nice kid saw him and tried to get his leash, but this is a game for Raj. He finally was able to catch him as I was turning the car around so back home we went. Dixie seems a little down tonight, maybe reducing the meds too soon? She doesn’t seem to be in pain but she can hide it very well and now I am having difficulty getting them down her throat. Hopefully I can get her to eat one before I go to bed.
